Funeral and Memorial Services
Honoring Life With Warmth, Dignity, and Care
When someone we love dies, families are often asked to make many decisions during a time of grief and emotional strain. One of the most meaningful decisions is how to honor the life of the person they have lost.

As an ordained nondenominational minister, my role is to help families create funeral, memorial, and graveside services that are thoughtful, personal, and deeply respectful. By listening carefully to the stories, values, and relationships that shaped a life, I help families design a service that reflects the unique person being remembered while offering comfort and perspective to those who remain.
At its best, a funeral becomes more than a ceremony—it becomes a moment for family and friends to gather, remember, and celebrate the life of someone who mattered deeply.
About Joe O'Brien

Joe O’Brien, M.Div.
Ordained Nondenominational Minister
Meet Joe O'Brien
My life’s work has always centered on helping people navigate meaningful moments with care, perspective, and hope.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Master of Divinity, my career began in the nonprofit world as an ordained minister, teacher, hospice volunteer, and advocate for individuals with disabilities.
Over time, my professional path expanded into executive leadership roles in both publicly and privately held companies, followed by the founding of my own consulting practice. Across these different settings—ministry, nonprofit service, and business leadership—one theme has remained constant: helping people make sense of life’s important moments and relationships.
For more than twenty-five years, my wife and I have served as ordained nondenominational ministers, originally in response to many couples who asked us to help them celebrate their marriage. Over the years we have had the privilege of officiating and witnessing more than 2,000 weddings, helping couples from many backgrounds and traditions create ceremonies that reflect the uniqueness of their love and their hopes for the future.
In recent years, my focus has increasingly turned toward another sacred human moment—accompanying families through the loss of someone they love.
Working with several respected funeral homes in the Greater Pittsburgh area, I now help families create funeral, memorial, and graveside services that honor a life well lived while offering comfort and perspective to those who remain.
Every life carries a story worth honoring.
It is always a privilege to help families gather, remember, and celebrate the life of someone who mattered deeply to them.

A Final Reflection
A funeral is not only a time to grieve.
It is also a time to remember, to express gratitude, and to recognize the love and relationships that continue even after someone has gone.

If I can help your family create a service that feels personal, meaningful, and comforting, it would be an honor to assist.
